SF Int’l Beer Fest TBA

The 30th Annual San Francisco International Beer Festival will be April 27th, 2013, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM PST at the Fort Mason Center’s Festival Pavillion. For a $65 admission, beer and food enthusiasts receive a taster’s mug for bottomless samples of hundreds of craft beers from their favorite local and international breweries as well as delicious eats from sensational San Francisco restaurants. Last year’s Fest was attended by nearly 4,000 suds lovers and sold out in under 20 minutes. Hailed as one big keg party, the SFIBF opens its gates to patrons using an air horn and, despite the popularity and fast and furious start, lines are commonly very short and move quickly.

This is a festival with a great cause, as the SFIBF is the sole fundraiser for the Telegraph Hill Cooperative Nursery school. The event is entirely produced by the parents of Tel-Hi’s preschool students and the money raised will fund the teaching and learning programs at the school for an entire year. Consider it drinking (responsibly) for a better tomorrow. The families thank you, and the kids thank you. Meanwhile, raise your mug and tickle your homebrew fancy with over 200+ craft beers.

San Francisco International Film Festival 56

Held each Spring for 15 days, the San Francisco International Film Festival (SFIFF) is a glorious gathering of around 200 filmmakers from over 20 countries in this highly anticipated annual event that is a sparkling gem in the International Film Festival Circuit. Founded in 1957, the SFIFF is the longest running film festival in the Americas. Showcasing cinematic discovery and innovation with an emphasis on diversity, the International has earned an audience of more than 80,000 visitors annually. SF Cherry Blossom Parade – April 21, 2013

April 21st, 2013 marks the final day of the Cherry Blossom Festival with a great display of art and community that is The Grand Parade. Featuring a number of honored performers from Japan, streams of colorful floats, world-renowned San Francisco Taiko Dojo’s thundering drums, traditionally costumed dancers, musicians, and the Taru Mikoshi (Shinto shrine), this celebration of Japanese heritage and tradition will flow like colorful butterflies from the Civic Center, proceeding up Polk to Post Street, and ending in Japantown at Post and Filmore Streets.

For two weekends leading up to the pageantry of the Grand Parade, the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival features food booths, cultural performances, live bands, the annual Queen Program and more. Saturday and Sunday, April 13th and 14th, and the following Saturday and Sunday, April 20th and 21st, all are welcome to participate with some 300,000 other visitors in the 46th annual festivities. Said to be the second largest Cherry Blossom festival outside of Washington, D.C., this celebration is free to the public and an excellent opportunity to support and participate in Northern California’s Japanese American culture.

The Grand Parade commences at 1:00 PM PST, Sunday, April 21st, 2013 at City Hall and concludes in Japantown at about 3:00 PM.

Union Street’s 22nd annual Spring Celebration and Easter Parade, March 31st, 2013 celebrates the diverse community of San Francisco in an outdoor bistro setting. Featuring some of Union Street’s best restaurants and focusing on children’s and family activities, this is a spectacular event for everyone. Described as wonderful, wacky, elegant and fabulous, this street fair and parade include such delights as inflatable bounces, hands-on children’s activities, costumed characters, sophisticated fashions, classic cars, a petting zoo and Easter bonnet contest. Great music, great food and great fun – this is a spectacular event for everyone!

SF Flower & Garden Show – March 20-24, 2013

The 28th annual San Francisco Flower & Garden Show, one of the most comprehensive trade events related to the garden decoration sector of the United States, is happening from March 20th to 24th, 2013 at the San Mateo Event Center. Chinese New Year Parade 2013 – February 23, 2013

Celebrating the Year of the Snake (Lunar Year 4711), the Southwest Airlines Chinese New Year Parade will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Stepping off from 2nd & Market at 5:15 PM PST , more than 100 entries will participate. This beloved and breathtaking San Francisco tradition has been going on for over 60 years, warming hearts and electrifying the senses with its gorgeous floats, traditional costumes and fantastical creatures. One crowd favorite, the Gum Lung (Golden Dragon), is a stunning 268’ long and takes a team of over 100 men and women from the martial arts group, White Crane, to carry its undulating form through the streets of San Francisco.

This year brings a new parade route beginning at Second and Market Street, going up Post to Powell, turning right on Sutter to Kearny and ending at Columbus. This is the largest Lunar New Year celebration outside of Asia. The New Year Parade is one of the finishing touches of a two week celebration and festival that includes the Flower Fair, Community Fair, Jamboree, Run and the Miss Chinatown USA Pageant and Ball.
